I Realize you Might not Happen to Agree, But This is How I See it Anyway

Vis-a-Vis NZ National Party leader Simon Bridges' Budget Reply Debate Speech Two Days Ago... TO BE CONTINUED.. Wednesday May 20th: Events now well and truly having moved on by now, let me nevertheless post what I scribbled in my notebook on Friday the 16th following the previous afternoon's post-Budget day addresses - by Bridges et al... Mr Bridges Shows his Quality At Last Resiling from ye standard politically partisan post-Budget 'No Confidence' motion in the Government (of the day) as has been delivered by any and every Opposition leader 'from time and immemorial', National's leader (for the time being, anyhow) Simon Bridges delivered an extremely balanced and temperate response to the financial largesse to be bestowed as per the Finance Minister's Third Budget... No fiery theatrics and histrionics for sure, much less a burning, vitriolic denunciation of all things Labour-ish, so, no, the speech won't be noted in the annals and vaults ...

To whom do I refer? I'm sure you can guess, but to see if you're able, I'll simply leave it at that, then give you the initials in a few days, and subsequently cite their full names... ...but I'd have long since kicked the bucket if I'd awaited any sort of response to any of my various blogposts upon any of my various blogsites, so I'm probably - as per usual - fighting another losing battle... ...but naturally all will be revealed in due course...

But be assured, Joshua - & Co/Et Al - not all the world's been fooled into looking askance at this preeminently problematic time... ...though the smugly self-assured Central Communist Party Headquarters in China doubtless deems otherwise...

I.e. the 'apology' tendered by some Chinese health figure/official (as reported on May 10th, Sunday morning's BBC News, NZ time)... As Oliver Conway (or the reporter he questioned thereabouts) commented - as per this apology for the coronavirus...upon our globe/fellow humanity... hardly a real apology  as such...   

Part One: They have a  very real point  vis-a-vis the United States (and the United Kingdom, or was it France?) apparently snubbing them in regards to commemorations of the 75th anniversary of WW11 ending. Irrespective  of the reprehensible conduct of Josef Stalin not only generally but in regard to that horrific war in particular... ...what can surely not be denied, and ought not be minimized... was the admirable and valiant efforts of the Soviet troops/soldiers in countering the Nazi war machine... again, however the continent  - or rather, the eastern part thereof - of Europe was subsequently carved up... Part Two: But a current leader -  for life, apparently  - the dis honourable Vladimir Putin (for all his masculine bravado and 'charm')... ...has all too predictably assumed 'the last refuge of a scoundrel', as Great Britain's truly great and inimitable WW11 wartime leader Winston Churchill so aptly described things... as his popularity...

Methinks it's all about their constant ad hominem  campaign to impugn him/them and their motives and intentions - whatever  their relative merits at times... And yes, though - as I've often reiterated - I'm far  from a fan of the man, their never-ending partisanship is unfortunately, but all too predictably, I fear, starting to push many reasonable-minded people increasingly into his corner... -no, not for his rather abject handling of the crisis in the U S of A - a study in failure if there were one - but in how by constant engagement in character abuse and assassination they eventually achieve the otherwise impossible... making the man seem somewhat reasonable and their own petty party political hatchet job upon him look more and more childish and over-the-top... ultimately helping to see his re-election by a populace heartily 'sick to death' of such journalism which has so obviously jettisoned the very basis and first principles of its very raison d'...

Having begun this line of reasoning back on March 25th, in a blogpost entitled 'Loathe as I am to Admit it...the 'Solution' May Well Be Worse Than the Problem', let me (in what's essentially Part Two of the same - however stretched out across the weeks)... 'simply' enumerate a catalog of such concerns... *As the BBC this very morning informed listeners across the world, millions of kids worldwide are now missing out upon (life-saving) measles and rubella vaccinations *Mental/psychological issues - brought on as a direct result of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis and subsequent lockdowns etcetera - are skyrocketing throughout not only God's Own/Godzone but doubtless around the globe *Many senior citizens are - having effectively been pushed to the back of the queue, if not explicitly by governmental 'diktat'/edict, then practically-speaking by the heavy emphasis upon the coronavirus  and pretty well "Steer clear!" message being cons...
