Saturday I Witnessed Something Striking (If Admittedly Far From Surprising), Albeit Deeply Saddening - and All So Typical of Our Self-Centred, Self-Obsessed Age: Two Contrasting Protests, Geographically Directly Opposite One Another: The First, as in Prior (Protest), That of a Long-Established/Running (Mostly 'Tented') Crowd of (Deeply if Not Necessarily Self-Evidently) Self-Indulgent Covid Antagonists, Denouncing & Decrying the (NZ) Government's - Admittedly, Somewhat Problematic - Coronavirus Mandates; the Other (Of Which Yours Truly Was a Silent Participant/Observer), Folk (from the Ukraine Especially) Grieving Intensely Over their Loved Ones' Awful Predicament in Their Homeland(s) (of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia)
The latter silently grieving in mournful vigilance, whilst the former honked horns and created 'merry hell' as they gleefully honked and whistled and bellowed their approval of the folk holding out in the Octagon, downtown Dunedin...
But the loudest voices are not always the most eloquent...
