...though in the 'latter' instance, i.e. vis-a-vis Sissii International's determined and seemingly successful efforts to eradicate the wonderful cultural artifacts of the ancient city of Palmyra - much as its African cousins did in that classical(ly named) centre of pre-civilization, i.e. Timbuktu - the historian tasked with keeping its museum etc was valiantly prepared to 'be faithful unto death' (as the Book of Revelation might have put it) in defending it to the death (as it sadly ultimately proved)...
