Join me as I speak of (opinion) polls - 'universal' acclaim from international pundits and politicoes - a politically 'unsuccessful' but principled predecessor - a similarly 'successful' (and globally feted) but less (than) principled, pragmatic pontiff - over-promising and raising expectations to the hilt whilst leaving folk in the lurch, under-delivering here, there and pretty much everywhere, and even entering upon territory verboten by Parliament, wherein the dreaded 'h word' is in grave danger of being invoked... ...yet 'in the end', when all is said and done and the fat lady has spoken to the very point of hoarseness, no longer having anyone to blame but yourselves for having nothing to show for it, no convenient fall-guy or scapegoat to fall back upon when the roosters all well and truly come home to roost once and for all time...  Hey, what can I add? - *Excepting (my trademark) Nuff Said. *But, yes, I forgot to acknowledge the source of said quote: a (weekly) phone chat between Newstalk ZB's Mike Hosking and their British correspondent Rob/Rod Little... ...which conversation, though centering around a recent high-profile sexual assault/rape/murder (I believe) of a London woman, naturally has far more extensive tentacles in terms of the public discourse playing out these days throughout the Western world upon all matter of various and sundry, socio-politically-charged topics...

If you'd been a former pugnacious New Zealand Prime  Minister, on the other hand, you'd have biffed that bloke on the noggin... ...and he'd have deserved it every whit!

  The perfect 'repartee' to the material shared in and through the bombshell interview... Again, Buckingham Palace, aka Queen Elizabeth the Second herself, didn't miss a beat, no, not one.

Yes, I have to say, having watched the Oprah interview fairly thoroughly - and most definitely preferring the later parts including Prince Harry - the entire account of things did seem to ring true , as in seeming to carry a strong sense of authenticity not only in the telling thereof, but in the all-important background details... ...gelling oh so strongly with the past modus operandi of Buckingham Palace, so to speak...or at least the longstanding official guardians thereof...

Apparently large swathes of worldwide, or at least U K, observers, had already made up their minds prior (to the big speech from Oprah Winfrey's L A-based interview)... Never a good thing, I'd have to say, though in the case of (one-time) close associates and loved ones an inescapable, unavoidable reality one would have to concede...

Postscript: Though regrettably I've lately learned that it was the Suess Foundation itself, no less , that has unilaterally chosen to forego re-publishing the six offending books in question... ...leaving Yours Truly to wonder whether the whole kerfuffle - rather than being yet another evidence of academics gone berserk (though not pretending or rather naively imagining such wasn't indeed a precipitating background factor in the whole situation) - wasn't actually a very clever marketing gimmick to increase sales globally... ...which if that was said aim, it has evidently succeeded beyond the Foundation's wildest anticipations, worldwide sales apparently booming in the aftermath of this...
