As For (Labour Deputy's) Kelvin Davis' Own Foray Back into the Parliamentary Fray As the 53rd Parliament Got Underway Last Week...He's Evidently Learnt His Lesson, and Then Some...

If insufficient for seeing his reinstatement into (serious contention for) the (post-Winston) newly-vacated position of Deputy Prime Ministership, at least majorly redeeming himself  following his extremely bad taste, smug-and-gloating, gleeful stomping upon the personae and feelings of Election Night's losing National leadership... Indeed, his latter-day Road to Damascus conversion (back) to ture piety and godliness even witnessed his genuinely promoting, in due humility, the concept of the newly-minted Government adopting a posture of servant leadership of the good ship Aotearoa... All-in-all an excellent performance, showing genuine contrition for his extremely bad judgment on that occasion, genuine bipartisan joy for Shane Reti's own rise-and-rise into political prominence and power, and a useful promotion of a thoroughly biblical concept of government being duly subject to the people who put them there in the first place... Oh, if only he and they - and all such (politico...

Sometimes While You're Away, You Do Indeed Miss Some Important News Items...Such as Judith Collins' Elevation of Shane Reti to National Party Deputy Leadership (After Former Deputy Gerry Brownlee, Following a Crushing Defeat For the First Time Ever in Blue-Ribbon Fendalton, Evidently Vacated the Position): Yes, A Brilliant Move, If In the Circumstances Not Entirely Unexpected

Though, admittedly, Mr Reti's own loss of the once marginal, but long since also blue-ribbon National seat of Whangarei - ditto for Nelson's Dr Nick Smith (etcetera etcetera etcetera) - could also conceivably have called his own accession to top party leadership into legitimate question...

Political inconsistencies Abound, Especially When it Comes to Corporate Profiteering...

How else can one explain the Jacinda Ardern-led Labour Government *privileging the same - i.e. NZ's supermarket duopoly - during the nationwide lockdown ? Just as others might - and indeed oftentimes have  - levelled a very similar criticism vis-a-vis selfsame Government's broadsides the one moment against the petroleum cartels, demanding they move to reduce prices at the pump, whilst the rest of the time handily enjoying and revelling in patrol tax largesse... *Whilst now finding their price gouging just a little too rich by far...

Unforeseen and Unforeseeable Aberrations of a Landslide...-and Every One Relating to the Political Fate of Maori, be They in the Labour, National and/or Maori parties...

To wit, a Maori relative-in-law's own Maori relative - Willow-Jean Prime - succeeds in her quest for an electorate seat (that of Northland, briefly held by Winston Peters not all that long ago), whilst National's up-and-comer, Health spokesman Dr Shane Reti - whom some, myself included, have suggested is prime ministerial material - fails to retain National's long-held blue-ribbon provincial seat of Whangarei, faltering at the very last moment... ...either (respectively) succeeding/losing (as the case may be) once the specials finally came in, though Election Night suggested a very tight case in both instances... ...though in Prime's case media attention was entirely elsewhere, i.e. upon NZ First's Shane Jones's own ultimately severely disappointing prospects... ...whilst the Maori Party therewith also doubled its (election night result, itself not a sure thing) electoral haul/bounty...
